The California Department of Public Health has just posted a new dashboard of countertop fabrication operations and silicosis cases in California. This shows the enormity of the problem and adds to evidence about why we need to consider the prohibition on the fabrication of countertops containing crystalline silica.
- There are more than 1,200 fabrication operations in California located in almost all 58 counties
- More than half of all fabrication operations were reported as an employer by a confirmed ES silicosis case
- 172 fabrication operations had multiple silicosis cases
