About the Webinar:

The Risk & Safety Training Center of Excellence (CoE) develops systemwide training for the University of California regarding risk, environmental health, and safety issues. This presentation will provide an overview of microlearning and explore how this format can be applied to risk and safety training. Learners will also review the benefits of microlearning, discuss practical activities, and identify free resources that can be used to create impactful trainings.

Instructor Biographies

Janette de la Rosa Ducut, Ed.D., has over 17 years of experience in education and training in a regulated environment. She has served in positions such as Director of Education / Academic Dean, Associate Director of Regulatory Affairs, Manager of Training and Process Improvement, Quality Assurance Associate, Education Coordinator, Business Manager, and Student Service Center Manager. Prior to coming to UCR she served at Everest College, American Red Cross, and California State University Los Angeles. Janette also has over 10 years of experience as a publications manager / editor, webmaster (architect, content manager, and programmer), and IT consultant for educational and health care institutions. Additionally, Janette has conducted academic research in memory, cognition, and aging at the University of Southern California.

My-Linh Tran has over 5 years of experience in training and education.  She has served in positions such as International Peer Advisor, Training Assistant, Training Coordinator, and Program Group Leader/Educator.  She has worked for UC Riverside Environmental Health and Safety, UC Training and Education Center of Excellence, as well as, Global Partners Institute U.S. /International Studies Abroad Japan.   In addition, My-Linh has had marketing experience as part of the Marketing Team of UC Riverside’s Associated Students Program Board and as Director of Marketing of the UC Riverside Student Alumni Association.

Heather Davis Russell  has over 20 years of experience in working in the public sector, more than half of that in professional development and training. She has served in positions such as Community Services Supervisor, Community Services Coordinator, Area Manager and was also a Certified Trainer for the California School Age Consortium.  Prior to coming to UCR, she worked for the cities of Chino Hills, Chino and Rancho Cucamonga, as well KinderCare Education, was the co-founder of Hat Trick Inspirations, a Training and Professional Development team and most recently was a Social Media Manager, Trainer and Consultant.  Her expertise and experience includes program and curriculum development, digital and social marketing, content creation, web design and web page management. Additionally, Heather sits on the Board of Directors for the Southern California Teen Coalition, supporting the field of out of school time for older youth through training, education and planning regional events. 

Cassandra Greenawalt has over ten years of experience in education, training, and analytical work with the University of California. She previously served as a training assistant and as an Analyst for the Environmental Health & Safety department at University of California, Riverside. Her experience includes: database creation and management for multiple systems, report generation, compliance reporting, webpage management, publications and marketing, and curriculum development. Additionally, Cassandra has expertise in nutrition, health, and wellness education. She obtained her Master's Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics from Loma Linda University and is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer and Registered Yoga Teacher.
