About the webinar:

Cleaning products and disinfectants (CP&D) are known to cause a variety of health effects. This presentation will describe the activities of the Safe and Just Cleaners Project, which was a significant study in NYC focused on assessing employment and working conditions among Latina immigrant house cleaners. In this presentation, Dr. Harari will describe 1) regularly used household CP&D among Latina house cleaners and 2) inhalation and dermal exposure levels to CP&D in everyday household cleaning tasks.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, the learner will be able to:

  • Recognize the products regularly used by Latina house cleaners in NYC
  • Describe airborne exposure levels to volatile chemicals during tasks
  • Report exposure levels to Quarternary Ammonium Compounds-based disinfectants

Speaker: Homero Harari, ScD

Homero Harari is an Industrial Hygienist at the Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health and Assistant Professor and Head of the Occupational and Environmental Hygiene Laboratory at the Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in NYC.

The Center for Occupational and Environmental Health designates this activity for a maximum of 1.0 Contact Hour. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
