Individual-level resident monitoring and mentoring takes place in an ongoing manner in formally structured and in less structured formats. Each resident’s progress undergoes a twice-yearly structured assessment by the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), which reviews all performance-related materials. These materials include rotation evaluations generated through the UCSF online med-Hub system, course performance from the yearly joint medicine-nursing toxicology course (S. Goldman, course leader) and every-other year joint medicine-nursing clinical problems course (P. Blanc, course leader), and for those in the MPH, performance feedback from the UCB Interdisciplinary program. In addition, the CCC membership includes supervisors from the major clinical sites. The CCC summary assessment is subsumes the ACGME milestones as an advancement guide while also incorporating other metrics.
