Primary Areas of Work:
We support employees in raising occupational safety and health (OSH) awareness and in developing OSH programs and committees within the workplace. Currently, our primary focus is on collaborating with workers in the manufacturing sector, particularly in the electronics, chemicals, and high-risk industries.
Goals of Project:
The objective of the Summer 2026 Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) project is to evaluate the impacts of climate change, particularly extreme heat and heavy rainfall, on the health and safety conditions of workers across diverse working groups, including formal (manufacturing, agricultural, service), informal, and platform workers.
During the internship, surveys, interviews, and group discussions will be conducted in the National Capital Region and surrounding areas.
The survey results and key discussion highlights will inform the drafting of proposed amendments to the current OSH Law, ensuring that specific provisions addressing workers’ safety and health in extreme temperatures are incorporated into the legislation.
As an intern, you will:
- Create a narrative report about the impacts of climate change on Filipino workers across both the formal and informal sectors.
- Create a draft of proposed amendments to the Philippine Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Law, incorporating provisions to protect workers from climate change–related risks to occupational safety and health.
Intern Expectations:
The COEH intern is expected to take part in data gathering through surveys, interviews and discussions.
They can also participate as enumerators or facilitators of discussions regarding the various impacts of climate change among the workers.
Necessary Skills:
- Research experience
- Data-gathering skills
Recommended Skills:
-
Writing and designing simple presentations and information materials on OSH
