The Northern California Education Research Center has three core training programs; industrial hygiene, occupational health nursing, occupational medicine, and three allied programs; ergonomics, occupational epidemiology, and agriculture safety and health. Each TRT applicant is required to submit a research proposal and carry out the research, under mentor supervision. They receive mentorship for conference presentations, manuscripts, and grant applications from their primary mentor and the TRT director. Research projects reflect the range of disciplnes of the Northern California Education Research Center.
